Euro 2016 - it's all about belief for France - Hugo

Belief is key for Hugo Lloris as he prepares to lead France out to open Euro 2016 this evening.

Six years in the making, the tournament kicks-off as Les Bleus face Romania at the Stade de France (8pm UK).

Hugo will shake hands with a familiar face - former Spur Vlad Chiriches is Romania's captain - and then it will be all about getting off to the perfect start.

The goalkeeper - who will earn his 76th cap - certainly doesn't underestimate the task in hand or the importance of getting the home crowd behind the team.

"This is not an easy game," said Hugo. "Romania had one of the best defences in the qualifying stages (conceding two goals in 10 games) and that means a lot at international level.

"It’s up to us, if we start with the right energy the crowd will follow us and we’ll be strong.

"The preparation is very important to create the right atmosphere and the confidence and after that it’s all about belief.

"Maybe in the past the gap between teams was bigger but now it’s difficult to find the one team which will be favourite.

"We are all challengers and that’s why we need to believe, we’re in France in front of our fans and they will help us a lot."
