Milestone match this weekend

Posted on 12 May 2018  - 10:58

Sunday afternoon marks a significant occasion in our Premier League history as it will be the 1,000th game we have played in the division.

We are one of six teams who have been in the Premier League every year since its inception in 1992-93 and all six will be playing their landmark match this weekend as the 2017-18 season draws to a close.

So how do the stats of our previous 999 games stack up, ever since our first match – a goalless draw at Southampton on August 15, 1992? Here we go...

Won 422
Drawn 255
Lost 322
Goals For 1,475
Goals Against 1,263
Clean Sheets 281

And just for a bit of fun, some more diverse statistics for you from those 999 matches…

Shots on target 2,526
Penalties Scored 46
Own Goals Scored 33
Hit Woodwork 166
Yellow Cards 1,446
Red Cards 61

For the record, the team we’ve beaten the most is Everton (25), followed by Manchester City (23), while surprisingly there are two teams we have never beaten in the Premier League – Blackpool and Swindon Town! Swansea City are the team we’ve played the most without losing, having won 11 and drawn three of our 14 matches against them.
