Our hard-fought 1-1 draw at Liverpool on Saturday came just days after the players returned from international duty and marked the start of a run of seven games in seven weeks as we head towards the end of the season.
Having spoken of his pride at the efforts of the team at Anfield, Head Coach Mauricio said he’s relishing the chance to spend an extra few days on the training ground ahead of each game from now on – starting this week as we build up to our clash with the Red Devils.
“In football, you always need to be ready for the next game,” he said. “Now we have a few days to recover and try to prepare for United.
“It’s important because we only really had one day to prepare for Liverpool. International weeks can be difficult, 90 per cent of the players are away but now we have six games left in six weeks and time to prepare the players.
“We will fight until the end of the season.”
After scoring our equaliser against Liverpool, striker Harry Kane backed up Mauricio’s sentiments and said the players will look to make their extra time on the training ground count against Louis van Gaal’s men.
“We haven’t had many clear weeks this season!” he smiled. “We’ve had a lot of midweek games but it will be nice to have a bit of recovery time and then work hard to try to get the three points against United on Sunday.”
