The in-form midfielder is one of five of our players to hook up with the England squad alongside Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker for high-profile friendlies against Germany in Berlin on Saturday and Holland at Wembley on Tuesday.
On their return, it’s crunch time in the Premier League as we sit in second place, five points behind Leicester with seven matches remaining.
“It’s got to that stage now where we’re just worrying about ourselves,” said Dele before departing for England duty. “There are so few games left we just need to concentrate on winning every game and not to worry about what else is happening around us.
“We just need to win the rest of our games and hopefully that will leave us in a good position come the end of the season.”
What did you think about the 3-0 win against Bournemouth?
Dele: “It wasn’t easy but it was solid performance from everyone. It was a great finish from Harry early on which was important for us. We wanted to make our mark early which we did and then we saw it through from there.”
That was the seventh assist from you to Harry in the Premier League!
Dele: “The most important thing is that we’re winning games. It doesn’t matter who is getting on the scoresheet or who is setting up the goals as long as we’re getting three points.”
How important was it to win before the international break?
Dele: “Yes, important for our confidence, to keep morale high and to keep the squad heading in the right direction before the international break. We need to keep up the good form. We’ve got Liverpool when we get back which we’ll now go in to with a good win behind us.”
Speaking of internationals, you are one of five players in the senior England squad, how does that feel?
Dele: “We look out for each other and it will be good to put on an England shirt again. Hopefully I’ll get some minutes. It’s always an honour to put on the England shirt and to do it with some of the boys from Spurs makes it even better.”
Any game time could be key for you and the other Spurs lads in terms of selection for Euro 2016…
Dele: “Everyone is fighting for a place in the squad and in the team. It’s not going to be easy and I’m sure Roy Hodgson and the England staff will pick a good squad. Whoever gets a place will be honoured and privileged to be there.”
