Davies: 'We all know that Trippier is a top, top player'

Ben Davies has heaped praise on Kieran Trippier following an “excellent” run of form on the part of his fellow full-back.

Former Burnley star ‘Trips’ has featured in six of our last seven Premier League games, starting three times – including his first Premier League north London derby start at the weekend – while also retaining his place in our FA Cup line-up for the semi-final clash with Chelsea at Wembley last month.

Competing for his spot with England international Kyle Walker, Kieran has caught the eye down the right flank and Ben, a regular on the opposite side of the field in recent months, has been particularly impressed.

“I think he’s been excellent,” said the Welsh international left-back. “There’s a lot of full-backs in this league who’ve had a tough time against Alexis Sanchez and on Sunday I thought Trips marked him out of the game.

“Those performances are only good for the club and it’s fantastic when you’ve got two quality right-backs in this team that are pushing each other week in, week out.”

Ben also revealed that Kieran is held in high regard by all his team-mates.

“As players, we’ve got every faith in him,” he added. “We think he’s a top, top player and if he comes into the side or whoever the manager picks to start, it doesn’t make a difference to the way we expect to play.”
