2010 was a big year for Hugo and France - it was when the country was selected to host the European Championships and the first year the goalkeeper wore the captain's armband.
Our outstanding number one has been the go-to man for Les Bleus since 2012. He's been capped 75 times and there will be no prouder man in Paris than Hugo when he leads the team out for the opener against Romania at the Stade de France on Friday evening (8pm UK).
Hugo told us last summer 'it's difficult to explain the feeling' when asked what it would be like to host and lead France out at the tournament. He's about to find out.
Below: All eyes on Hugo at a pre-tournament press conference
"It’s always special when you play for your national team and there is now more responsibility because the tournament is in France, so there is more expectation around us," Hugo told us before leaving Hotspur Way for the summer.
"It’s all about mentality, spirit and if you can mix that with the talent in the squad we can do great things.
"We have to do it step by step, first be focused on the group stage and take it game by game."
That first game is Romania - captained by Hugo's former team-mate Vlad Chiriches - and we'll have Hugo's views on that match tomorrow...
