The full-back was back in the starting line-up for last night’s (February 19) first leg that finished 1-1 at the Lane.
We shifted quickly into gear against the Serie A giants and Roberto Soldado volleyed us into a sixth-minute lead.
But despite our domination, we couldn’t add to that single goal and the Italians struck against the run of play to level on 36 minutes.
Fiorentina tightened up in the second half and chances were few and far between - leaving us needing a scoring draw at least to progress when we meet again at the Stadio Artemio Franchi next week.
“We’ll be confident going out there and that’s the only way we can be really, we’ll look to score and try to win the game,” said Ben, who echoed Mauricio Pochettino’s thoughts of being disappointed with the 1-1 draw.
“We had the chances to pick up the second goal, maybe even the third in the first half and if we’d done that, I’m sure the tie would have been completely different but we didn’t take advantage of those chances and now we’ve got to go away and do a job out there.
“Fiorentina are a good side. We pressed them well in the first 20 minutes and caused them some problems but they then changed their system and were like a typical Italian side, solid at the back and hard to break down.
“I’m sure that’s what we’re up against again next week.”
