David Pleat compared the coverage the club received during the poor run in December with the positive reports of January and concluded that it is a 'fickle game'.
Four wins in 2004 have boosted everyone following an end of year sequence of results that saw us fall into the bottom three and receive huge coverage - virtually all of a negative nature.
Asked whether he now allows himself a wry smile after the upturn in fortunes, David simply explains that he knows how it all works.
"It is a fickle game and I've been around long enough to know how it works," said David. "We've just got to do everything possible to make sure we don't get another poor run.
"We must build on the team spirit that is there. What has pleased me is, although we lost the games and regardless of what positive things I said, the players kept their heads. They have got no negativity about them and have done really well."
