Fergie's praise for George

Posted on 2 December 2000 - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has praised his Spurs counterpart George Graham ahead of the clash between the pair at Old Trafford.
Ferguson revealed he admires the way the resolute Scot has not flinched despite the intense pressure and believes the worst is now over for George and his side.
"It's difficult for George with him having been at Arsenal and I think that's the crux of the matter as far as I'm concerned," said Ferguson.
"I think that's a lot of the reason why some of the fans vent their feelings against George if they feel the team is not doing as well as they feel it should be doing.
"But what he has done well is held his nerve, he's kept his cool, he's not panicked and his experience has shone through.
"He's a smashing manager, a terrific manager and we've had some great battles when he was at Arsenal. They were also controversial games and his record there was unsurpassed really."
Ferguson is not taking too much notice of the fact that Tottenham have picked up just one point on their travels this season, and have only won one of their last 22 visits to Old Trafford.
"Their home form is obviously the better part and they've regained their form in the last few weeks, winning games against Liverpool and Leicester City at home," said Ferguson.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
