We travel to Reading on Wednesday with five friendly wins out of five against Stevenage Borough, Swindon, Leyton Orient, Wycombe and Portsmouth in the bag.
“Winning is a good habit to get into and it starts from here,” explained Les.
“People will look at the games and think ‘they’re only playing First Division opposition’ and it doesn’t mean anything, but if you can get into the habit of winning and get out of pre-season what you need then you will go into the season in good stead.”
Les is well aware of the competition for places up front with the likes of Sergei Rebrov, Teddy Sheringham and Steffen Iversen around.
The quartet have all looking sharp so far — but Les knows there is something missing.
“Unfortunately I’m the only one who hasn’t scored yet!” he joked. “It’s coming along. I’ve been pleased with the way I’ve been playing, working hard and getting out of the games what I need.
“The final touch is the goals and I’m confident they will come.
“I’ve been back four weeks now, not missed a day and I’m feeling good. Hopefully I can take that on to the start of the season.”
Les Ferdinand is delighted that we’re getting into good habits in pre-season.
