Loan round-up - debuts for Onomah and Ogilvie

Thu 10 August 2017, 10:49|Tottenham Hotspur

Josh Onomah completed his first 90 minutes for Aston Villa on Wednesday night, helping his loan club through to the second round of the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 win at Colchester United.

The 20-year-old, who arrived at Villa Park last Friday, put in an impressive shift in midfield, having made his Championship debut as a 78th-minute substitute in Saturday afternoon’s 1-1 home draw with Hull City.

That same afternoon also brought a League One debut for left-back Connor Ogilvie, who completed 90 minutes for new loan club Gillingham in a goalless draw at Doncaster Rovers.

Connor was also in action for the Gills on Tuesday night in a 2-0 defeat at Reading in the Carabao Cup, having netted his first goal in a 4-1 pre-season friendly win over Belgian side Patro Eisden on July 25.

Overseas, goalkeeper Tom Glover was on the bench for Australian side Central Coast Mariners as they lost 3-2 at Blacktown City in the FFA Cup on August 2 while defender Anton Walkes continues to start regularly at right-back for American outfit Atlanta United in the MLS. Indeed, since his goal in a 4-2 win against San Jose Earthquakes on July 5, he’s been ever-present for back-to-back matches against Orlando City (1-0 away win and 1-1 home draw) and a 1-1 draw at Sporting Kansas City in the early hours of Monday morning.
