Loan round-up - goals for Josh and Vincent

Tuesday night was certainly a fruitful one for some of the young players who have graduated from our Academy set-up. While Harry Kane and Harry Winks shone for the first team in the Champions League in Cyprus and Anthony Georgiou came on for his debut, on-loan midfielder Josh Onomah netted his second league goal for Aston Villa as they brushed aside Burton Albion in the Championship.

A 69th-minute substitute, Josh converted a cross from Scott Hogan to round off a 4-0 win for Steve Bruce’s side as Villa completed back-to-back away league victories for the first time since September, 2014.

Since shaking off a slight injury earlier this month, Josh has featured as a substitute in Championship wins at Barnsley (3-0) and at home to Nottingham Forest (2-1), while he started in a 2-0 home defeat to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup last week.

Elsewhere, striker Vincent Janssen scored the winning goal from the penalty spot as Fenerbahçe secured a 2-1 home victory over Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday. He also scored on his first start seven days earlier as his side won 4-1 at Alanyaspor.

On Sunday, young centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers came in for his second start for Championship side Sheffield United in the high-profile setting of the first league Steel City derby in five years at Sheffield Wednesday. Cameron, who scored on his debut for United earlier this month, again tasted victory as his side ran out 4-2 winners.

Since scoring his second goal for Atlanta United against New England Revolution a fortnight ago, defender Anton Walkes has continued his run of starts at right-back in the MLS with a 3-3 draw with Orlando City, 4-0 triumph over LA Galaxy and 2-0 win over Montreal Impact – all at home.

Tuesday night saw left-back Connor Ogilvie restored to the starting line-up for managerless Gillingham as they battled out a goalless home draw with Scunthorpe United in League One. Connor had come on as a substitute in a 1-0 home win over Charlton Athletic before being on the bench for a 3-0 loss at Rochdale over the last couple of weeks, having previously been a regular starter for the Gills.
