Dream debut for on-loan defender Carter-Vickers

Cameron Carter-Vickers scored the winning goal on his debut for Sheffield United at Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night.

The on-loan centre-back came into the Blades’ starting line-up for his first ever league appearance after being on the bench for wins against Derby County and Sunderland in recent weeks and got forward to score in the 33rd minute, firing into the roof of the net after his first effort from a corner was blocked by a defender.

The goal secured a 1-0 victory for his side, putting them third in the Championship table.

Elsewhere, Connor Ogilvie again completed 90 minutes for Gillingham in a 1-1 League One draw at AFC Wimbledon.

In Australia, goalkeeper Tom Glover played the first half for Central Coast Mariners in a 1-0 home win over Wellington Phoenix on Tuesday in a warm-up friendly ahead of the start of the A-League campaign next month.
