Another loanee on target as Walkes nets for Atlanta United

Thu 14 September 2017, 21:33|Tottenham Hotspur

A productive week for our on-loan players continued in the early hours of Thursday morning as Anton Walkes scored in a 7-0 rout of New England Revolution by Atlanta United in the MLS.

Once again starting at right-back in Atlanta's new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Anton capitalised on two early red cards for the visitors to score the hosts' fourth goal of the night in first-half stoppage time, latching onto a ball over the top and converting from a tight angle on the right.

It was Anton's second goal in Atlanta colours and came hot on the heels of another young defender, Cameron Carter-Vickers, bagging his first goal on his debut for loan club Sheffield United earlier this week.

The 7-0 win saw Atlanta set a new record for the most goals ever in a game for an MLS expansion side, while equalling the largest margin of victory for any team in the history of the competition. It was also the first time ever a team had been restricted to zero shots in a game.
