Dallas Spurs help the community for Thanksgiving

Thu 23 November 2017, 16:35|Tottenham Hotspur

Our official Supporters’ Clubs in the USA are once again doing the Club proud as they help their local communities for Thanksgiving.

Dallas Spurs, one of more than 40 Supporters' Clubs we have in North America alone, recently embarked on their annual fundraising drive to purchase food stuffs for the local Community Pantry, the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB).

The NTFB is a top-ranked non-profit relief organisation, providing access to more than 170,000 meals each day for hungry children, seniors and families.

Dallas Spurs members have held collections at their recent gatherings to watch our matches on television and not only have they exceeded their $700 total from last year, but have more than trebled it to $2,300 thanks to the generosity of one of their new members, DJ Moore.

Dallas Spurs chairman Simon Dodsworth explained: "We always accept donations at every match viewing to ensure those less fortunate than us have meals all year round, but at this time of the year it’s important to dig deeper to provide the groceries necessary for a nice Thanksgiving dinner.

"After raising $300 two years ago and more than doubling it to almost $700 last year, we set a goal of $1,000 this year. We started in October and just before the international break had a relatively new member, DJ Moore, throw down a challenge that if we hit the $1,000 goal, he would match it. Not only did we hit that, we raised $1,300, meaning we hit $2,300 overall."

Two more of Dallas Spurs' members, Shane Keller and Dina Green Dixon, worked exceptionally hard behind the scenes to purchase all the food with the funds raised (some of which is pictured, above), ensuring a few more smiles were put on local faces this Thanksgiving.

It again goes to show how the passion of our fans across the world is being used to do so much more than simply cheer on the team on matchdays.

Well done to all involved!
