Fans drove us on - Dele

Mon 12 February 2018, 08:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Dele Alli immediately turned to our fans after a thrilling derby win against Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday.

A crowd of 83,222 - Premier League record, Club record for a home league game, north London derby record - witnessed an outstanding display as Harry Kane's header on 49 minutes saw us home 1-0. It could have been many more as chances came and went and we were denied numerous times by Petr Cech.

Asked about the atmosphere, Dele said: "It's one of a kind...it's what you play football for, what you dream about as a kid and the fans deserve all the credit, they really pushed us on.

"Wembley is a big pitch and it's not easy to get around it but when the fans cheer you like that it really gives you an extra boost.

"We dominated and stuck to the game plan and when the fans are like that, they drive you on.

"We knew if we won the fight we'd win the game and all the boys worked hard for each other. Every man fought for the other and for the fans to get the three points."

Match winner Harry added: "It was incredible and when we went 1-0 up and had three or four chances, the crowd were on their feet. It was great to send them home happy."
