Famous Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Long gone are the days Anthony Costa could slip into his beloved White Hart Lane unnoticed.

He is a member of Blue - arguably the biggest boy band in Europe and responsible for top 10 hits in 'All Rise', 'Too Close', 'Fly By II', 'One Love' and 'U Make Me Wanna' as well as last year's number one with Elton John, 'Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word'.

Pop success has raised his profile through the roof and celebrity works in mysterious ways.

Anthony, still just 21, explained: "It's strange because before I got signed with the band I could never afford a ticket.

"When I got signed with the boys I bought my first ticket, against Brentford in the Worthington Cup.

"No-one batted an eyelid at me in those days but as time's gone on and I've told people I'm a Spurs fan the offers have started to come in 'do you want to come to this game, that game?' and I've found that quite funny."

Born just a few weeks after Ricky Villa's FA Cup Final replay heroics in 1981, it's not surprise, in Antony's words, that he's 'been brought up blue and white'.

"It all began when I was born basically," Anthony revealed before the final game of last season against Blackburn Rovers.

"My dad went out to Cricklewood High Road and bought me a Spurs top and there are pictures around of me when I was little in this old Spurs kit.

"I was born about a month after we won the 1981 FA Cup, so that shows how old I am. I'm Spurs through and through, all my family is and I've been brought up Blue and White."

Anthony, born down the road in Edgware, Middlesex, can certainly relate to the new-found celebrity status of today's footballers.

He tells this story. "I'm good mates with Jamie Redknapp - sorry to be dropping names - but we were out a couple of weeks ago and a man went up to Jamie and said 'I'm a big Spurs fan, can you sign this for me?' and Jamie signed it and said 'by the way, this is the guy from Blue' and the fella said 'who?'.

"Later on a girl came up to me and asked for my autograph and I said to her 'this is Jamie Redknapp' and she said 'who?' so you get that contrast. It's funny to see."

Blue's second album, 'One Love' is out now.

Blue are appearing live in various locations in July and August before embarking on a UK tour in November and December.
