Kevin Bond believes being able to field a settled side is one of the key factors in our climb up the Premier League.

Nine players have started our last three games with minimal changes in the full-back positions. Indeed, seven players have started the last four as we've beaten Middlesbrough, Villa and Chelsea and drawn with Sunderland to move away from the drop zone to within three points of seventh place.

"First of all, we've some really good players at this club," said assistant boss Kevin at Spurs Lodge this week.

"What has happened more recently is that we've been able to get a settled side and because we've won a few games it makes the selection relatively easy for the manager.

"It always helps although it's obviously not as good for the players who have to sit patiently on the side and wait, but they also understand that it would be foolish to change a side when results and performances are going as well as they are."

Kevin has sympathy with the players not in the side at the moment. "It is hard but we're at a top club and we need a squad of top players. You must have that.

"It's tough for one or two of the lads but the players we have out at the moment have got the shirt and they have to keep performing to maintain their place in the side.

"It makes it difficult for the other players but they have to be patient and when the chance comes, they have to take it."
