Michael Dawson will stumble across some familiar faces when we travel to Cardiff City in the FA Cup on Sunday.Four players who could all feature in the third round tie at Ninian Park have connections with Michael’s former club Nottingham Forest.

Three played with ‘Daws’ at the City Ground - Riccardo Scimeca, Stephen McPhail and Michael Chopra - while Kevin Campbell was banging in the goals for Forest when Michael was on schoolboy books at the club aged 14!

Here’s what Daws had to say about Cardiff’s former Forest Four…

Riccardo Scimeca: “Ricky’s a great lad. In my first season at Forest, he was a regular and playing in central midfield. He has so much experience and helped me a lot. We played a lot of games together. He’s a real family man, a nice guy and the sort of character you want around when you are a young lad in the first team. He’s calm and so laid back but on the pitch he really keeps you going.”

Stephen McPhail: “He was on loan at Forest for about three months and I thought he was a fantastic player, so comfortable on the ball. He has a lovely left foot and is a very creative player, he showed that at Forest.”

Michael Chopra: “He was a bit unfortunate as I seem to recall that Paul Hart left just a few days after he brought him in on loan. He was with Forest for a month. He’s sharp and scores goals – he’s proved that this season. He’s a threat, especially in a cup-tie like this.”

Kevin Campbell: “I was a very young lad when he was at Forest, I must have been about 12 when he signed and I then signed schoolboy forms at 14, when he was still there. Obviously I never played with him, but I’ve played against him a few times since. He’s a nice guy and even when I played against him, I liked him.”
