#ExtraordinarySpurs: PHASE - Sheila's story

Wed 08 March 2017, 10:00|Tottenham Hotspur

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is celebrating a decade of creating opportunities that change lives and today we bring you the latest in a series of features taking a look at some of the Club’s extraordinary yet often unseen work in its community.

Here we meet Sheila, who struggled with her mobility before attending PHASE – an exercise programme offering older people in North London access to regular physical activity to help reduce the onset of mental and physical illness.

She has benefitted greatly from the programme - vastly improving her movement, reducing aches and pains and making new friends, while forming a strong bond with Foundation instructor Walter.

Sheila said: “Walter is a great guy, he looks after everybody and gives them a lot of his time. The exercises he shows us are fantastic and the friendly atmosphere of the sessions makes me feel at home.”

The PHASE programme delivers sessions at a range of day care centres across Enfield including the William Preye Centre and the Rose Taylor Centre, while promoting social interaction, inclusion and healthy lifestyles.
