Kazuyuki Toda says it's a 'dream come true' to join Spurs - and knows all about our history from one of the club's greats.
The midfielder played in every game for Japan in last summer's memorable World Cup finals and joins us on a year's loan from Shimizu S-Pulse.
He has been granted a work permit and will be the second Japanese player to feature in a Premiership squad.
Kuzuyuki said after signing at the Lane: "It feels really great to be here. It has always been my dream to play in the Premiership, now this dream has come true.
"I have watched quite a lot of English football on TV and a lot of Tottenham games, so I already have the impression of this team playing very fast football with some great players.
"I know very well some great names from Tottenham’s history such as Steve Perryman and Ossie Ardiles - who have been my coaches in Japan - Jurgen Klinsmann and of course Glenn Hoddle.
"Steve Perryman was my coach at Shimizu S-Pulse for five years, he told me about the history and tradition of Tottenham and told me the experience of playing for the club will be fantastic but also I know it will be a big challenge."
