Harry Redknapp is delighted with the first half of the season and his message ahead of the trip to Everton is simple: “Let’s keep it going.”
We travel to Goodison Park tonight (Wednesday, January 5) on a run of 11 matches unbeaten in all competitions having won three out of three against Villa, Newcastle and Fulham so far in the festive period.
Now it’s another test on the road against an Everton side widely-regarded as better than their current position of 14th in the Barclays Premier League.
They certainly showed that in a 1-1 draw at the Lane back in October - one of 10 draws in their 20 matches so far.
“It’s gone well for us but it’s week to week in this league and we have to keep it going,” said Harry.
“We had a great season last season and we’ve carried it on and played some fantastic football along the way.
“It’s wide open, five teams are battling away for the top four places and it’s there for someone to do it. United are the favourites but you wouldn’t write Chelsea off, you wouldn’t write City off and you wouldn’t write Arsenal off. You wouldn’t write Tottenham off at the moment either.
“We’re in amongst them and to be up there having won our group in the Champions League, with AC Milan also coming up, it’s an exciting second half of the season and it’s great for the fans to have plenty to look forward to.
“But this is another tough game at Everton. I’ve certainly never had an easy game at Goodison Park. They beat City recently and David Moyes always gets the best out of his team.”
