There was no containing Mauricio Pochettino’s delight after arguably our best performance of the campaign and 2-1 victory over Everton on Sunday.

Determined to put right our recent home form in the Premier League, the players gave everything from the first to last whistle to celebrate a come-from-behind win against a Toffees team in fine form.

Kevin Mirallas curled a cracker into the top corner from 25 yards to open the scoring for the visitors after 15 minutes but we were ahead by the break thanks to Christian Eriksen’s fifth goal of the season on 21 minutes and Roberto Soldado’s first in the Premier League in first half added time.

Powered by Academy products Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason’s energy in midfield, we went close again through Federico Fazio, Ryan and Harry Kane in the second half while Everton created little and Hugo Lloris was only seriously called into action to deny Seamus Coleman.

“Congratulations to the players, they deserve it and for our supporters as well, I say ‘thank you’ because today was unbelievable, we all felt great emotion in the stadium,” reflected Mauricio.

“We showed very good energy, maybe we need to improve and play better but the three points is important for our confidence.

“We showed character and played like a team but the important thing is the feeling that the team showed. The supporters are happy and we’re happy.”

Mauricio was also pleased to see Roberto hit the winner. “All strikers need to score goals, they are frustrated when they don’t so I’m happy for him and happy for the team.”
