Simon Davies' lingering hopes of featuring in the European Championship Finals with Wales this summer ended today.
The Football Association of Wales' appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne failed to change UEFA's decision not to overturn the result of their play-off match against Russia in November after midfielder Igor Titov tested positive for a banned substance.
"Personally I didn't hold my hopes too high, it was always a difficult one," said Simon at Spurs Lodge this afternoon.
"You always think at the back of your mind 'yes, maybe we have a chance' and the Welsh FA had to believe they had a case, but it's not to be and we must all concentrate on the World Cup now.
"At the end of the day we let ourselves down with the position we were in in the group. We're all determined to put that right in the World Cup qualifiers."
