Robbie Keane suffered last-minute heartbreak for the Republic of Ireland against Slovakia on Saturday.

The striker and current skipper for both club and country could do little as Maric Cech hammered home an equaliser for the home side in the 92nd minute as the European Championship qualifying Group D encounter ended in a 2-2 draw.

Earlier, Robbie was heavily involved in the Republic's opening goal, producing a dummy to allow Stephen Ireland to finish. They led 1-0 and 2-1 before Cech's late leveller.

It means the Republic remain third in the group but now three points adrift of second-placed Czech Republic, who they face in a vital clash in Prague on Wednesday. The top two qualify for next summer's finals with Germany the clear group leaders.
