'We don't lie down' - Eriksen, Kane and Lloris on our win at Stoke

Sun 08 April 2018, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen described it as 'a bit like basketball' as we were pushed to the limit before taking maximum points at Stoke on Saturday.

The great Dane was credited with both goals - the second also claimed by Harry Kane - as we held off a spirited Stoke side to make it six wins on the trot and 14 matches unbeaten in the Premier League.

The goals arrived in an 11-minute spell - Christian's finish from Dele's cutback (52 minutes), Mame Diouf's equaliser (57) and then what turned out to be the winner as Christian whipped in a trademark free-kick (63) that may well have taken a touch off Harry on its way to the net.

Nevertheless, all agreed that the win was all that mattered after an end-to-end final 25 minutes saw chances on the break for both teams and Stoke's Xherdan Shaqiri strike the crossbar.

Here's what Christian, Harry and Hugo Lloris - making his 200th Premier League appearance for us - had to say...

Overall thoughts...
"It was a completely different game to Chelsea. We didn’t have this game under control, it was very open and a bit like basketball, back and forth, if you lost the ball you ended up in your goal (area) and the same the other way. People know by now that we don't lie down and when we scored we all felt we could take it on, we had the chances to score more but the last pass maybe wasn’t good enough and we made a few mistakes which gave them chances and that’s what kept them in the game."

On our form at this time of the season...
"We go into this period of the season feeling very confident, getting the wins we need and we want so the confidence keeps getting higher. We’ve said before, we go into every game with the mentality of ‘we are going to win today, no matter what’ and we take that with us."

On the second goal...
"I think if Harry said he touched it then he touched it and it's his goal. If you think about how he celebrated then he did feel he touched the ball. He’s an honest guy and any player who touches the ball last before it goes in will claim the goal."

On that goal and the win...
"It's my goal! Christian put a great ball in and it skimmed off my shoulder. A goal's a goal! I can see why people are debating it but you'll have to take my word for it. At the end of the day, we've picked up a very important win to keep our momentum going. It was tough, Stoke are fighting for their lives but we've won the game and now we move on again."

Overall thoughts...
"We know every home game for Stoke is very important, they are still playing for safety and they were aggressive and disciplined but we took the game in the right way. In the second half as soon as we scored we conceded a strange goal, unfortunately for me, but we had a great reaction and we kept strong until the end. It wasn't easy but this is a tough place to deal with. The end of the game was a little crazy because we didn't kill the game off, we let them believe but we stayed strong until the end and that's most important."

On making his 200th Premier League appearance...
"I can be proud of that and hopefully there will be many more in the future."
