Erik Lamela has one big target as he settles into life at Spurs – and it's away from football.

Lads congratulate Erik after his goal against FC SheriffErik in training

“I’ll work hard in training and I want to improve my language, to learn the English language, that’s one of my main targets,” said Erik in an exclusive interview with Spurs TV that you can watch for FREE by FOLLOWING THIS LINK...

“It’s a learning process and that’s what I’m trying to get used to.

“It’s essential to be able to communicate in English, to talk to my team-mates, to everyone in the team and then in my personal life outside the football. It’s vital I learn the language.”

Erik spoke to us after his fantastic performance against FC Sheriff in the Europa League.

He was a real spark that night, scored his first Spurs goal and was then brought down for the penalty that Jermain Defoe dispatched to become the club’s all-time top goalscorer in Europe. The 2-1 victory also booked our place in the knockout stage of the competition.

That goal clearly meant a lot to Erik – not least as his family was at the Lane to witness it.

“I was lucky that my family was here, my girlfriend as well, and my goal was dedicated to them,” he added. “I’m happy it happened that way.

“I’m grateful that my family is here, also my team-mates, the technical team and everyone has been really helpful. I’m glad to be working with them.”

Meanwhile, Erik has promised to look up Crowded House’s famous hit ‘Weather With You’ - it’s the inspiration behind a new song the fans have for the winger.

“I heard something (at the Sheriff game), I knew something was going on but I couldn’t quite understand it. I haven’t heard that song, but I will look it up!”
