Eric eyeing another cup run

Last year’s run to the Capital One Cup Final can galvanise the players to try to reach Wembley once again in the FA Cup, according to Eric Dier.

We embark on another cup quest this weekend with Leicester City the visitors to White Hart Lane in the third round of the age-old tournament.

Having helped us enjoy a sustained run in the other domestic knockout competition last term, Eric is hopeful of building up another string of victories in the FA Cup this time around as we continue to battle on a number of fronts.

“Cup competitions are great!” said Eric, who has also played his part in our latest Europa League campaign, which sees us take on Fiorentina in the round of 32 next month.

“It would be great to go on a cup run again – the Capital One Cup was great last year and obviously we were disappointed to lose in the final, but it was an unbelievable experience for all of us.

“I think those experiences are helping us now and hopefully they’ll help for the occasions that we’ll face in the next month.”

We also host high-flying Leicester in the Premier League on Wednesday night, but Eric remains confident that we can get the better of the Foxes in both competitions.

“Everyone is talking about the back-to-back games against Leicester – we’ll know them well by Thursday morning!” he added. “We know we’ll need to be at our best as they’ll be two very tough games. They’re doing unbelievably well but we’re at home so we’ve got to fancy ourselves.”
