Oakley-Boothe and Eyoma win Under-17 World Cup!

Sat 28 October 2017, 19:12|Tottenham Hotspur

Tashan Oakley-Boothe and TJ Eyoma are returning home as World Cup winners with England Under-17s.

The Academy duo were part of the Young Lions set-up that came back from 2-0 down to thrash Spain 5-2 in the showpiece final in India on Saturday.

In what was the first time England have ever lifted the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, midfielder Tashan once again started against Spain and was substituted in the 90th minute, while right-back TJ was on the bench.

Tashan started all but one of England’s seven games at the tournament, being rested for the third and final group stage match against Iraq when qualification for the knockout rounds had already been secured, while TJ appeared as a substitute in the semi-final win over Brazil having initially started the Young Lions’ first two games earlier in the competition.

The pair join older Academy products Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters in claiming World Cup winners’ medals with England youth this year. Josh and Kyle were part of the side that lifted the Under-20 World Cup over the summer.
