Yet, having only returned to action in our UEFA Cup return against Sevilla on April 12 - after picking up a foot injury just before Christmas - Ledley admits he is already looking ahead to the new campaign.
"It has been a long fairly stressful time without playing much," reasoned the central defender. "Mentally a break will be nice, but physically it is coming to end a bit too quickly for me.
"All I can do is prepare myself for next season now and do the best I can to make sure I am ready for that."
Despite having a fragmented season on a personal level, Ledley believes he will be stronger for the experience and will certainly not be changing his style of play.
"Yes because when you are out there training or playing games there is nothing much you can do. You put everything into it and can always pick up injuries - you just have to get yourself back stronger."
Ledley King is already relishing the prospect of returning to Spurs Lodge for pre-season training even though the current campaign ended just over a week ago.The skipper is currently with the England squad preparing for the B international against Albania at Turf Moor on Friday, where he will be hoping to get another game under his belt before the season closes.
