Eleven up for Sergei

Posted on 5 July 2000  - 12:00

English Barclays Premiership

We can now confirm what many parents will be glad to find out - Sergei Rebrov is DEFINITELY going to wear the number 11 shirt.

When he signed at the beginning last month, Sergei was photographed holding up the 11 shirt. Our shops have been selling named shirts with that number.

But, until now, there was no certainty that that was how the squad places would be allocated, particularly because Willem Korsten is the current man in possession. But he played only nine times in the Premiership last season and is thought to be happy about switching.

The will-he, won't-he uncertainty of the Rebrov shirt has prompted many emails to the web-site. Some said they were waiting for confirmation before heading for the Spurs shops, online or otherwise.

Sergei will be joining his new fellow players next week when they gather for pre-season training.

No shirt news yet, though, of our other major new signing, goalkeeper Neil Sullivan. Sorry to Mums and Dads of aspiring young keepers!
