Naturally, after 30 years of the Club producing a monthly magazine, this was not a decision that was taken lightly. But, we are convinced these changes will provide even greater behind-the-scenes access, as well as allowing you to keep up-to-date with the latest news from inside the Club.
Having started with a black-and-white newspaper, followed by three different versions of a full-colour magazine, this move – which takes place at the end of June - represents a natural progression.
Spurs News was launched in September, 1983, and from then until May, 1994, 105 issues were produced. The following August saw the introduction of Spurs Monthly which ran until July, 2006, with 143 issues – this month’s final magazine is the 83rd Hotspur.
Throughout that time we have covered every move and advancement that the Club has made. We have been there every step of the way for the past three decades, creating a ‘live’ archive that historians and fans can dip in to and so follow our true history as it happened.
Keith Burkinshaw was the first manager interviewed and that input from the top has continued all the way up to current Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas.
In addition, every first team player since that time has appeared in its pages; the likes of Glenn Hoddle, Jurgen Klinsmann, Ossie Ardiles, Paul Gascoigne, Gary Lineker, Chris Waddle, Gary Mabbutt, Ledley King and company right up to the current squad.
And the greats from our past were never forgotten as we continually trawled back through our wonderful and successful history to bring readers all the stars, characters, games, goals and triumphs from days gone by.
One thing that won’t change is our desire to hear from you. We’ve enjoyed wonderful feedback over the years and want you to continue sending in your own fascinating Spurs stories so that we can share them with fellow fans.
Thank you for your loyalty and support over the years and we look forward to you joining us at the end of June on e-Hotspur.
With the growth of web and mobile digital platforms, the Club has decided to take many of Hotspur’s most popular features and include them as part of a new e-Hotspur membership that includes access to exclusive video interviews from players and coaches, downloadable match photos and wall papers as well as the chance to take part in polls and man-of-the match votes.
