The Swedish full-back felt the problem in the first half and was replaced by Reto Ziegler at half-time with Thimothee Atouba switching from left midfield to full-back.
Back at Spurs Lodge this morning, Erik reported: "After 35 minutes I was out by the corner flag with Carlton Cole and stretched to reach the ball. I over-stretched my Achilles a bit, it felt tight for a while and I had to go off.
"Already today I feel a lot better. I have taken some anti-inflammatory tablets and within a couple of days I hope to be training again."
Head Coach Martin Jol added: "He had a problem with the same injury last season in Holland as well and he maybe needs two or three days before he's training again.
"What was important though was Thimothee Atouba played at full-back in the second half and played well. That's the benefit of having players who can play a couple of positions."
Erik Edman hopes to be available for selection against Middlesbrough this weekend following assessment of the Achilles injury that forced him off at Villa Park last night.
