Eagles in our sights

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

David Pleat was delighted to have drawn Crystal Palace at home in the FA Cup third round.

He was manager back in 1987 when we met Palace on the way to Wembley and grounded the Eagles with a 4-0 victory.

"That result is irrelevant to what is ahead of us and it's hard to recall much about the game apart from the fact that such successes are always major confidence builders," says David. "But we have every respect for the current Palace side and know that they will give us a tough game.

"Hopefully we can have a big January. If the team keeps focussed, plays with the spirit of late and keeps its collective shooting boots on then we can hope for better things.

"By sticking together as a group and maintaining the goals power that we have shown in recent games then there’s no reason why we can't have a double cup run.

"We have a very important period coming up and victory over Palace would be another major lift."
