Simon Davies said he believes he is back playing the way he capable of following his superb display in the 5-1 triumph over Aston Villa on Sunday.
It has been a frustrating couple of seasons for the Welsh international schemer, hampered by illness and injury. Since his reintroduction into the team at the end of January after recovering from an energy-sapping virus it has taken a little bit of time to work his way back to operating at full throttle - but he was certainly at that level against Villa.
"It was a great game to be involved in," he beamed after the game. "We've been threatening it for a while and haven't taken our chances but this time we did. We were comfortable winners in the end.
"Performances like that don't come around too often but, obviously, everyone is striving for it. It was just a great afternoon for us and the fans were brilliant.
"I felt good out there, it is good to be back playing the way I can and that is the most important thing for me."
Martin Jol reserved a special mention for the performance of Simon, describing his contribution as 'something special'.
"Davies was the outstanding one out of the 22 players - something special. He was unbelievably fit, he broke things down, won balls and attacked well. I was pleased with him."
