DUO DEBUT AS RESERVES DRAW

Ben Alnwick and Adel Taarabt made promising debuts as our reserves drew 0-0 against Norwich City in Monday night's friendly at Carrow Road.

Alnwick's technique was exemplary in terms of kicking and handling and the young goalkeeper snapped up from Sunderland made two fine one-on-one saves in the first half.

Taarabt, meanwhile, showed flashes of great skill in his 62-minute shift and was involved heavily as we created chances at the end of the the first half. He then sent Mark Yeates away for the best chance of the second half but home keeper Joe Lewis saved well.

Unfortunately, the evening was marred by three injuries, two to our players. Tomas Pekhart suffered concussion in the first half, was stretchered off and taken to hospital as a precaution - the good news is that he was able to travel home afterwards. Norwich's Tom Miller was also injured in that clash of heads.

Meanwhile, Dorian Dervite was also stretchered off the in the first half following a tackle with Luke Daley. Early reports from the dressing room were that he'd injured his right knee, but he was also able to travel home and will undergo scans on Tuesday.

Those injuries led to NINE minutes of added time in the first half, during which the home side hit the post for the first of two occasions, Craig Fleming's volley ricocheting across the goalline before being hacked clear.

Ian Henderson also struck the inside of the post in the second half and Henderson and strike partner Ryan Jarvis proved a handful all night - admirably dealt with by youngsters Leigh Mills and Troy Archibald-Henville.

Alnwick's saves denied both strikers but the save of the night went to his opposite number Joe Lewis when he flicked over Jamie O'Hara's piledriver at full stretch in the 37th minute. He also won one-on-one duals with Mark Yeates and when he was beaten by David Hutton's clever backheel in the last minute, the ball zipped inches wide.

THE KEY ACTION...

12mins: Yeates flashed cross across six-yard line, no-one there.

43mins: SAVE. Best move yet, one-touch, O'Hara, McKenna into Yeates, danced around two defenders but went to go around Lewis as well instead of finish, Lewis read it and clawed away.
