"I remember in the Under 20's World Cup in Malaysia he was on fire, his career seemed to stall for a few years but now he's back and he's playing brilliantly at Blackburn and he's got all the top teams after him because he's such a good player."<IMG src="/_worldpix/hughton.jpg" align=left border=1 DESIGNTIMEURL="/_worldpix/hughton.jpg"
Chris Hughton is in agreement with Gary's assessment and feels that Duff's versatility could be a major asset to Mick McCarthy.

"Certainly Damien Duff - who had a wonderful season," said Chris. "I think what he has added to his game now is a certain amount of versatility. We've known and seen him as a left-winger, a natural left-winger that has pace.
"We've seen him add to that game, even from left wing where he's cutting inside and scoring goals with his right foot. We've also seen him playing off the front a little bit and that is another option for Mick.
"He knows he can play him wide and knows he can play him off the front. It is a great asset to have somebody who's got that type of pace to play up front, giving you the opportunity to change your game a little bit."
As far as players who could make an impact at the World Cup, Doc throws in a few more names.
"Robbie Keane may be struggling a bit at Leeds as he doesn't seem to be playing, but he'll be fresh as he is such a good player when he's with Ireland.
"Steve Finnan, I think he could have a good World Cup, solid right back.
"Shay Given, he's got himself on the map, so it could be a massive World Cup for some of the lads."

CHECK OUT THE REST OF THE WORLD CUP NEWS FROM OUR SPECIAL ARCHIVE - TOP COVERAGE WITH A SPURS ANGLE!

Be first to receive the New Kappa kit - three days before everyone else - Click here to order!

SEASON TICKETS - DON'T MISS A KICK! Click here to apply online
