Rafa van der Vaart has revealed how disappointment at Newcastle helped drive the team to victory at Blackburn.
The ‘Toon’ ended our run of four successive wins in the Premier League at St James’ Park on October 16 when Shola Ameobi lashed home a late equaliser for a 2-2 draw.
Rafa slotted home a penalty that day and fired us to victory at Ewood Park on Sunday with both goals in a 2-1 win.
That made it five wins in our last six Premier League matches with Rafa scoring five in his last four.
"Last week we drew at Newcastle, everyone was disappointed and that means everything, it says a lot about the team," he said.
"We’re so confident at the moment, we know we can win every game, especially when we play our game and play good football.
"It was important to win at Blackburn. I don’t think we played our best game but we won and that’s what matters. We have five wins and a draw (in the last six matches) and as I said, we have a lot of confidence.
"It’s always tough at Blackburn but we managed to win and we’re up to fifth, so that’s great."
