Ledley King revealed that Edgar Davids was the first pick in his 'Dream Team' during his schooldays - and now he will be leading him out into Premiership action.
The captain is sure the recruitment of the vastly experienced Dutchman will hugely benefit our young team following his arrival from Inter Milan.
"It will be great," said Ledley. "I have grown up watching Edgar and I remember at school when we used to do 'Dream Teams', he was around in those days and was someone I used to try and get in my little team.
"He is a top player with great experience. He is going to help us a lot, especially with the young squad we've got - to bring in someone like him is great for the club.
"Everyone knows how fierce he is on the pitch, he is like a lion. He scares opponents and is going to give us that little bit extra that maybe we have been missing."
Ledley suspects the other players will take their lead from the physical presence and tenacious approach Edgar will bring to the side.
"It is something you can pick up from experienced players, how they perhaps put fear into other players and add aggression to their game. We've got a young squad and it can take some years to bring this in. With someone like Edgar around, hopefully we can pick it up earlier than we would have. It will be good for us."
