Dimitar Berbatov took great satisfaction from the style in which we beat Arsenal to book a place at Wembley in the Carling Cup Final.

The 5-1 semi-final, second leg victory will go down as one of the great nights at the Lane as goals from Jermaine Jenas, a Nicklas Bendtner own goal, Robbie Keane, Aaron Lennon and Steed Malbranque completed a 6-2 aggregate scoreline

We will now play Chelsea in the final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday February 24.

“Everyone is very excited - the players, the boss, the fans and we deserved it, I can honestly say that,” reflected the striker after Tuesday night's victory. “A 5-1 win against our greatest rivals is a great day for us and everyone connected with the club.

“We did it in style and no-one could have imagined before the game that we would score five goals. One goal would have been okay but we scored five with some great combination football.

“That performance was magnificent, the way we played and the way we supported each other. It doesn’t matter who scores the goals in the end, the victory is most important and if we continue to play like that, we have a great future.”

Berba shared everyone’s joy at the prospect of a Wembley final. “This will be my first time at Wembley and everyone is excited,” he added. “The boys have told me that Wembley is such a legendary stadium and I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s one thing to watch a game there, another thing to play there.

“We did our job but we have many games before the final, so we have to concentrate on those as well.”
