Gary Doherty reckons Ireland could reap the rewards after Robbie Keane opened his account for Spurs at Blackburn.
Robbie is expected to spearhead the Republic's attack in a vital European Championship qualifier against Switzerland tonight - all the more crucial following a 4-2 loss in their first game in Russia last month.
Doc, on target in that game, said: "I was glad Robbie got his goal but he's not the sort of person who would lack confidence because he hadn't scored.
"It's nice to see him off the mark, it will give him an extra boost and hopefully we'll reap the rewards for Ireland on Wednesday.
"It was disappointing to lose the first game and it puts a massive emphasis on our second game, which is against Switzerland, who are up there will us and Russia as favourites for the group.
"I wouldn't say it's a must win game but it is an important one so early in the group."
