Gary reasons that the defence should be protecting the keeper to a greater extent and stop so many efforts going in on goal.
"He's been on fire, but we shouldn't be letting him make all these saves," said Gary. "We should be stopping them and he should only have one or two saves to make each game.
"He's having to pluck out five or six and he's making them."
On reflection, Gary did agree that the ratio is always likely to increase away from home - especially against Manchester United.
"At Old Trafford it felt like we were under the cosh for a lot of the game. They've got threats from all over the park, it was always going to be hard and Kasey had to play a big game for us.
"I think we're feeling comfortable though. They did have a few chances, but a lot was from outside the box and they didn't get many one on ones or anything like that.
"Hopefully we'll take it onto Saturday and get the goals that we need now.
"You can only try and take positives from a defeat and I think you learn a lot about your team. We know we can dig in and really grind out a result. Unfortunately it didn't happen on Saturday, but in the future we know we can do it."
Gary Doherty feels that Kasey Keller, while 'on fire', shouldn't have to make the amount of saves he is currently being called on to make.
