Paul Konchesky described Saturday's reverse to Bolton as a big disappointment to both fans and the team.
Bolton ended a six-game unbeaten run and the left-midfielder was at a loss to explain why the team did not perform on the day.
"I think that is the way football goes," he considered. "People were expecting better things as we hadn't lost for six games and it was a big disappointment for the fans and, obviously, the team.
"Bolton came here, worked hard and ground out a result.
"Everyone has got to look at themselves and everyone wasn't on the button. Whether that was because of extra-time on Wednesday no-one knows - some players felt tired and looked tired.
While there was much criticism of Saturday's display, Paul agrees that a sense of perspective should be kept bearing in mind recent results.
"That's right, you've got to look at the positives and that was a great positive - six unbeaten.
"Six games was a good run and hopefully we can start again on Saturday."
