The striker struck on 12 and 14 minutes to stun the Blues and make quite an impression in his first game on English soil in our colours. He was thrilled to mark the occasion with a double that certainly had the stamp of quality.
"Not a bad start at all!" smiled the Bulgarian. "For me personally it was great to score two goals and for my team to win, I thought we played well and deserved to win."
The 25-year-old admitted that finding the net during the pre-season programme for his new club does mean a lot to him and will serve to fuel his confidence for the challenges ahead.
"It is important. You don't want to go two or three games without scoring but, when an opportunity comes, everything is okay again. Luckily for me I have scored now and I hope to continue in the same way," he continued, adding that the quality of his stunning second was something he would like to repeat in a game with points at stake.
"It was nice, yes? Sometimes these things happen the way you want them to and, after a goal like that, you don't know whether you could do it again. It fell right for me and I scored.
"I hope it happens again early in the season."
Dimitar Berbatov hopes his two goals on Saturday against Birmingham City was just the start of good things to come for him in a Spurs shirt.
