The Welsh midfielder got his third first team game under his belt against Pompey since his return from a viral infection and he feels his engine is now tuning up nicely for the challenges ahead.
"It is my third game in and I feel very good - it was a great win," said Simon after the match. "It was really enjoyable to be out there, you get that extra bit of adrenalin when you are winning and I thought the lads worked and battled really hard.
"We knew that, as long as we matched them, our quality would overcome them in the end.
"We have had a sticky patch after a great run, but only the established top, top teams can maintain that sort of form throughout the season. We have had a dodgy spell, but we have won now and have two cup games coming up if we get through the first.
"We will be focused on this now, if we can get through the two games we will be right in the mix.
"Mido and Reidy both did fantastically. They are two quality players added to a quality squad - it is just getting better all the time."
Simon Davies suspects he is nearly restored to full working order following his lively contribution to the 3-1 win over Portsmouth.
