Digger's Diary

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

WEDNESDAY was a great night and now it feels like I'm really back. First and foremost it was a fantastic win against Birmingham and it was nice to start and get back on the scoresheet. Tano was suspended so the manager asked me to come in and do a job on the left side. I was delighted to be back in the side just a couple of weeks after coming back from injury and to score was the icing on the cake. I had friends in the crowd and they said beforehand that I hadn't scored for a while so when I scored, I remembered they were there and managed to find them. That's who I was pointing to in the West Stand. It was a great feeling. I've spent plenty of time going home from training wondering when I would be back so to be back, to start again, win and score a goal - that's what it's all about.

OVERALL I thought it was good performance, especially in the first half when we looked dangerous on the counter and could have scored more. Stephane Dalmat was on fire again and we played well. In the second half Keano had a couple more chances, Fredi hit the bar and although they came back into it, Keano finished it off. I've also got to say that the lads at the back did superbly for us.
I KNOW everyone at Spurs has issues with Robbie Savage after what happened in the Worthington Cup Final in 1999 but he's a Welsh team-mate of mine and I know him well. He's a great lad to have around the camp, a great laugh, always winding people up. For me, he's an asset to any club. I spoke to him before the game and he rang me before the game as well, trying to wind me up, so it was good to put one over him in the end.
LEEDS are next for us on Saturday. It's a big game and the sort of game we need to do well in if we want to climb up the Premiership. The lads know that. We'd moved on from Birmingham by Thursday morning and started concentrating on Leeds. They are a hard-working side with passionate players and a passionate crowd at Elland Road. It will be a battle, but Birmingham are a battling side and we managed to beat them and beat them well. We have to do it again on Saturday.

All the best,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Simon
