Digger's Diary

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

EVERYONE was disappointed with how the Leicester game panned out and it's just individual errors. The own goal, Jacko could have cleared the second, we could have picked up Thatch better, Doc's back pass. I don't think we can say they opened us up or passed through us, every chance they had was handed to them on a plate. It's something we've got to get out of our game. Whenever a team scores the defending side will look at a mistake somewhere along the line but when they are so blatant it will always be difficult to keep a clean sheet and win games. We all know it. No-one means to do it but we've been getting edgy and mistakes happen. Football is all about decision making and sometimes you get it wrong.
WE HAD a meeting on Monday and without giving too much away, we talked about being brighter and making the right decisions. Throughout the team at the moment when it comes to certain things we're making the wrong decisions. Maybe we're trying to pass it back to Kasey when we should just clear it into the stands. Doc said perhaps he should have done that rather than pass back to Kasey and then we'd try and deal with the corner. He didn't and that's the way it goes, that's football.

IT WAS all the more disappointing because we knew a win could have lifted us up to seventh or eighth in the table. You can look at it that way but as Kasey said in the meeting, six or seven games ago we were in the relegation zone in the bottom three and now we've won five of our last seven games and if anyone had offered that to us at the time, I'm sure everyone would have taken it. You have to look at the positives out of it but we know where we could be and that we're capable of pushing on.
CERTAINLY one of the positives at the moment is that as a team we look so dangerous going forward and our strikers are on fire. It's all about the balance now. If we can continue how we are going forward and try to clear up the individual errors I'm sure we'll be alright.
WE HAVE a long break now between fixtures until we travel to Middlesbrough on March 9. It's not ideal but quite a few of the players are carrying little knocks here and there so when we get back we should be fresh and it will be like a mini-season for the rest of the season. I'm sure we'll all be ready for the rest of the season.
EVERYONE in Welsh football was saddened to hear of the death of John Charles. He was a legend. I was luckily enough to meet him just after I moved to Tottenham when I went to a dinner in Wales and he was a guest speaker. I had my photo taken with him and he had a real aura around him. It's sad he's passed away and he'll be fondly remembered.
All the best,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Simon
