Digger's Diary

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

RESULTS and confidence are key words in football. I believe football is all about confidence, when players are confident enough to express themselves you see the best of them. It's difficult when things aren't going well and results are going against you and sometimes players don't feel free on the pitch. The last four games have built up that confidence, we're winning and we feel we can win every game we play at the moment. It all started with the FA Cup win against Palace, that got the confidence up and we followed up with a big win against Birmingham in the league. Things have gone from there and I thought we deserved to beat a Liverpool side chasing the Champions League on Saturday. We now have to keep that going in the league and we'll really be able to push ourselves up the table.

AS FOR my fitness, I've played three games now since returning from injury and I'm getting the aches and pains you'd expect. It's run of the mill after a spell out of the game. I'm happy with how my match fitness is coming along although I felt my hamstring a little tight against Liverpool and it was a case of getting through it. I've felt better and better after every game and with a few more games, I'll be back to where I want to be.
I THOUGHT Michael Brown played really well on his debut against Liverpool. He's very competitive and everyone has said we've missed that. He snaps into the tackles and he's good to play alongside. He didn't let the likes of Hamann and Murphy settle and even in training, he loves a tackle. It's something we need out there.
CITY are a dangerous side. They are similar to ourselves, very good on the break and always looking to play attacking football. It should be a good game. They snapped out of their run by beating Leicester in their replay so it will be difficult. But they way we're playing, if we can go up there and play the way we did against Leeds, contain and play on the break, we'll have a chance. A draw wouldn't be a bad result, bring them back to White Hart Lane. Again, it's confidence. Look around training and the lads have a spring in their step. It's not as easy when you are down but when everyone was having a pop at us, we stuck together. We knew what we were capable of and we've done it in recent matches, so hopefully it will continue on Sunday.
I'VE SAID it before, but we all knew what situation we were in after the Christmas games and we're not all thinking we've now cracked it. There is a long way to go in this season. We knew what we had to do, knew we were in a mini-crisis and knew we had to win games and that's what we've managed to do.
All the best,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Simon
