But although many tipped ‘The Elephants’ as favourites before the competition started, Didier is refusing to be down-beat about coming back to White Hart Lane without a winners’ medal.
In the interview, he says: “The Cup of Nations is a great challenge. The media said we were favourites so we wanted to prove this in every game.
“I was happy with the performance overall. I wanted to win the trophy but that’s football. We’ll have to try harder in 2010.”
Instead, Didier is already focused on Club matters, with a tough trip to Slavia Prague in the UEFA Cup round of 32 first on the agenda.
He adds: “It won’t be easy in Prague, but if we manage to get an away goal it will make things easier for the rest of the tie.
“The UEFA Cup is a great challenge for the players, but we have a manager who has won the trophy twice in the last two years, so he knows how to win it. The competition is also great for the fans.”
Didier also speaks about watching our famous 5-1 win over Arsenal last month on TV with Gunners defender and Ivory Coast team-mate Kolo Toure.
