“City is a great team and played well, but we knew we needed three points because when we looked at the table, it’s not too good,” reflected Didier. “It was an important moment.
“It was a physical game, City put a lot of pressure on and we didn’t make any mistakes.
“They had one chance and scored one goal and after that, we pushed forward, pressed and we really wanted to win. When I look at the table now we’re up to 13th and we’re happier.
“The fans give us so much, they motivate us. I’m happy to win 1-0, 2-1 or 3-0, I just want to win. To beat City was fantastic. I looked at everyone the next morning and every player was happy and we’re all now confident going to Portsmouth.”
Didier Zokora says he can see the confidence returning to the squad following Sunday's key win against Manchester City.Goals from Pascal Chimbonda and Jermain Defoe secured maximum points and lifted us up to 13th in the Barclays Premier League. If we hadn't have won, we would have faced the prospect of sitting in the bottom three.
